Grad Recital / Spring 2023   I   PROGRAM   1   O (Circle) Joao Felipe    During the course of this class, I was encouraged to look at the relationship with my musical instrument through an unique perspective that I otherwise wouldn't. Doing so forced me to glance back to my journey as a musician and the paths that led to my present. I perceived many cycles, ups and downs within my realizations and decided to create an abstract performance depicting those cycles.   I Warm Up II Dress Rehearsal Concept A dress rehearsal is the final rehearsal of a live show, in which everything is done as it would be in a real performance.   III   TIPS The stage is much larger than the studio and can be intimidating. The stage lights can be a bit disorienting. Performers often rely on classroom mirrors to help them with formations and spacing. Having a chance to dance without the security of the mirror before the performance is very important for their confidence. Performers have the chance to practice their stage entrances and exits and get used to being in such a large space. Confidence is critical to a successful performance. Having a rehearsal offers the performer the chance to feel ready. He theorized that the character will always want to achieve something by the end of the play and that every decision they make should lead them towards that goal in some way.     II     Review Objectives The objective is a goal that a character wants to achieve. This is often worded in a question form as “What do I want? ” An objective should be action-oriented, as opposed to an internal goal, in order to encourage character interaction onstage. The objective does not necessarily have to be achieved by the character and can be as simple as the script permits. For example, an objective for a particular character may simply be ‘to pour a mug of tea.’ For each scene, the actor must discover the character’s objective. Every objective is different for each actor involved because they are based on the characters of the scri...
